Server, The Hadsten JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for attending to guest throughout their dining experience, including seating guest, answering question, taking and placing food and beverage orders, and processing payment. Serves in an efficient and courteous manner, all while providing exceptional guest service. Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks: • Delivers exceptional guest service (i.e., prompt, friendly, professional, and responsive), using proper greeting and departure phrases and service standards established by the Food and Beverage (F&B) management.• Accurately takes, records, and submits food and beverage orders from guests and serves them in a timely manner.• Remains familiar with the food selections offered, the ordering process, the expediting of food items, and the standards in service.• Answers questions and makes suggestions to sell appetizers, desserts, wines, dinner specials, and beverages through “upselling” or “suggestive selling” techniques.• Confirms all guests ordering alcohol are of legal drinking age using established liquor service procedures. Monitors and identifies guests showing signs of intoxication; informs management with any concerns.• Receives cash or credit cards from guests for goods or services and records amounts received.• Recalculates or calculates bill and itemizes list and ticket showing amount due using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.• Fulfills end of shift cashier closing duties, such as closing side work, cash bank settlements, POS system card re-sets, and organizing receipts or other necessary payment verifications.• Follows established cash handling procedures for revenue and tips.• Consistently monitors the room for guests in need of service.• Addresses guests’ concerns and resolves issues as appropriate and according to policy/procedures; involves management as needed.• Reports to F&B management all inconsistencies in food and beverage preparation and presentation.• Works effectively and cordially with all other department management, Team Members, vendors, and guest.• Maintains a clean, safe, secure, and organized workstations.• Performs other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Required Qualifications: • High School diploma or GED certificate.• Previous serving experience, preferably in a fine dining restaurant.• Knowledge of alcoholic/non-alcoholic drink offerings and how to serve them, basic wine paring knowledge preferred.• Proficient with POS systems.• Excellent guest service skills.• Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience and tact.• Exceptional detail and follow-up skills.• Must be able to read labels, ingredients, and instructions, and write basic lists, notes, and directions; able to converse effectively with co-workers and guests.• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure at times of high volume.• Must be able to work under pressure and balance multiple priorities and assignments to meet deadlines.• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with outside agencies, vendors, other management staff, and team members.• Must obtain food handler card within 30 days of employment.• Must be certified or be able to obtain certification in an approved alcoholic awareness program within 90 days of employment.• Native American hiring preference applies.
