Real Estate Sustainability Engineer (Electrical) – located across Europe – GEA – null

Responsibilities / Tasks This is a global role within GEA’s Corporate Real Estate team. You may be based in any GEA entity in Europe.The Sustainability Electrical Engineer is instrumental to achieving GEA’s sustainability goals, including its Net Zero target. You will work within a dynamic and collaborative environment, in multi-disciplinary teams, making an impact across the countries and regions where we operate.This role reports to the Head of Sustainability Corporate Real Estate.You will support multiple Sustainability Real Estate projects:Work and coordinate with the various functions and divisions within GEA, to facilitate implementing GEA’s sustainability vision and goals in our existing building portfolio;Define GEA’s requirements related to building services and sustainability on new build projects. Follow its implementation throughout the life cycle of the project. Work with external and internal stakeholders to achieve the required results;Contribute to GEA’s sustainability policy. Propose sustainability objectives and KPIs and work through incorporating them into GEA’s Real Estate policy;Assist with prioritization of sustainability related investments;Support the procurement process of sustainability related projects by defining the scope and technical requirements of regional or global roll-out projects throughout the GEA building portfolio;Collate company-wide sustainability information to be able to report key metrics and data and track progress of KPIs;Technical advice on electrical building services on new and refurbishment projects;Review the work of external consultants on sustainability and electrical building services and liaise internally and externally to ensure it meets GEA’s requirements.Occasional travel is required.Your Profile / QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or in a related field.10 years’ experience designing electrical building services, with knowledge of Building Management Systems / Energy Management Systems and renewable electricity generation (including PV).Good understanding of sustainability issues. An accreditation on sustainability assessment schemes (DGNB, LEED, BREEAM or similar) is desirable.Able to work at strategic level to be able to advise on portfolio-wide sustainability initiatives.Experience carrying out low and zero carbon feasibility studies in buildings or masterplans.Understanding of costing electrical building services options and whole life costing.Being able to work with different functions and divisions, to align priorities and achieve buy-in from all stakeholders.Able to understand and interpret technical information and drawings / schematics.Financial literacy and being able to understand sustainability related business cases will be beneficial.Experience with energy audits is desirable.Experience with industrial and logistics properties is desirableProficiency of written and spoken English is essential.
