Postdoc in Material Corrosion related to CO2 Storage Applications – DTU – Lyngby

Position is connected to the project in collaboration with DTU Offshore Technology Centre. Responsibilities and qualificationsPost-doc aims at comprehensive investigation of corrosion in relation to CO2 injection and storage in existing oil wells. Project will focus on: (i) corrosion during injection due to supercritical CO2 conditions, (ii) corrosion due to the aqueous phase + CO2 in contact with well tubing, and (iii) developing an empirical model based on the experimental data for predicting corrosion level.Planned activities in the project include: Investigation of possible impurity content in CO2 on corrosion at lab scale and under flow loop conditions. Vapor phase corrosion due to thin film of electrolyte sticking to the tube surface under CO2 conditions. Detailed analysis of mechanism of corrosion and scale formation using microscopic, X-ray tomography and Synchrotron methods including in-situ electrochemical methods. Developing a corrosion model based on the parametric test data using statistical models. You will work in a research team with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark and abroad. The position is period of 18 months. Project involve some level of coordination activity between partners.As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). A PhD Degree in Materials Engineering or chemistry with corrosion and electrochemistry specialization. Prior experience on corrosion aspects related to oil and gas or CO2 storage applications is an advantage.
