Internship Opportunity: Develop a Mobile App to Promote Sustainable Behavior – Updropp – Copenhagen

Join our team and help us develop a sustainable solution to handle e-waste! About Us: At Updropp, we’re committed to transforming electronic waste into a valuable resource through direct reuse and circular economy. We’re setting up drop-off stations, called Uptainers, where citizens can deposit household electronics they no longer use. Other citizens can then repurpose these items in their homes. We’re now looking for interns to help us develop a mobile app that connects to the Uptainers. This app will give users an overview of items in the stations, create a sense of community, and incentivize sustainable behavior. About the App: We’re using React Native and a SQL database to develop the app. The initial work has begun, but there are plenty of different features to implement, and you can choose your preferred focus. Some of the features include user registration, storing and displaying dynamic content, search and filtering, API implementation (such as Google Maps), and creating a dashboard of statistics. We’ve already scoped out and visualized the features and design of the app through mock-ups, so it’s ready for you to dive in. Your Role: As an intern at Updropp, you’ll have the chance to work on developing our app. You’ll be coding some of the app’s features and design and will have a lot of say in which features you’ll be working on. We welcome your input, and your preferences will be taken into consideration. We understand that you might not have experience with developing apps or working with React Native, but as long as you have a go-getter attitude and are willing to challenge yourself, we encourage you to apply. While we’ll be there to support you through any challenges, it’s important that you are self-sufficient in searching for solutions to possible errors or when implementing features in uncharted territories. Please note that we don’t have a deep-tech background person in-house. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside other interns and our founder, Sara, who has experience in UX, testing, and managing technical projects. The app’s features and design have been scoped and visualized through mock-ups, so it’s ready for you to dive in. If you’re interested in sustainability and enjoy working on a project with a purpose, we’d love to hear from you. Practical: The internship will run for 3-5 months, starting in August or September, but we’re flexible if you have other scheduling needs. We also offer the possibility to do the internship remotely. Our office is located in Copenhagen, and you can learn more about Updropp on our website. If you have any questions or would like to apply, please send your information through The Hub. We read and respond to applications ongoingly and look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Sara Holt, Founder of Updropp.
