Assessing the long-term performance of green infrastructure to treat pollutants in urban runoff Udbyder Vejleder Sted København og omegn Green infrastructure is increasingly proposed as a source-control solution for managing urban runoff pollution. This Master’s thesis, being part of a wider Swiss international project, aims to study the long-term performance of such systems in terms of their treatment capacity for different pollutants. For this purpose, the idea is to develop a modeling framework aimed at representing the fundamental transport, retention, and fate processes for a set of pollutants and configurations of green infrastructure. This modeling setting will be coupled with non-stationary aspects such as the evolution of the physicochemical properties of the substrates as well as the vegetation. Modeling results will be further contrasted to a unique database of continuous online water quality measurements provided by a series of monitoring experiences and study cases. Ultimately, this study is expected to contribute with practical recommendations about the operation, maintenance, and eventual replacement of these systems. This project is carried out in collaboration with the Haute école d’ingénierie et d’architecture (HEIA-FR) in Friburg (Switzerland). Therefore, it offers the possibility to work in an international environment, where the candidate will be constantly exchanging (remotely) with his advisors and different experts in the field.
